Google’s and Amazon’s plans for Robots

An army of robots coming soon? Christy Ferer is shocked and impressed at the same time.  It’s been reported that Amazon is building robots in order to increase its way of shipping products and now Google is jumping in the game.  The article on Wired states:

“The difference between Amazon’s drone stunt and Google’s retail robot skunkworks, run by Andy Rubin, is that it seems far more serious. While Amazon released an unrealistic marketing video that had little to do with how its operations really work, Markoff’s sources say that Google is taking incremental steps to  automate steps all along the consumer-product supply chain, from  manufacturing to shipping.”

Mobile Advertising for Brands

As experts at linking brands and consumers, the Vidicom team is always seeking effective ways to increase brand awareness.  With 17.4% of web traffic coming directly from mobile this year, it is clear that companies should develop, if they haven’t already, smart mobile advertising strategies to increase brand exposure. Many businesses are already effectively using mobile advertising.  Listed below are businesses winning with mobile advertising and the ways in which they do so:

Rock/Creek: The outdoor gear and apparel company uses Twitter’s Promoted Accounts to increase awareness and engagement with followers who were interested in their products.
Karaoke Heroes: When the karaoke bar opened in 2012, it was able to reach its target audience via Facebook.
Colombo & Hurd: The Florida law firm was able to get more people into it’s office via Google Adwords.
Just Salad: The salad chain geotargets by using Foursquare ads.

Is your company using these mobile advertising platforms? Let Christy Ferer know with a comment!

LinkedIn Lets You Apply for Jobs on Your Phone

Christy Ferer, Vidicom’s CEO, believes applying for jobs has become a lot easier thanks to LinkedIn’s new feature on it’s mobile app. The new feature allows you to apply to jobs from your mobile phone. How convenient!?

According to the associate product manager at LinkedIn, Vaibhav Goel, “Over 30% of members who view jobs on LinkedIn come from mobile.” LinkedIn recently launched the “Jobs you might be interested in” section on mobile as a way for job seekers to search potential gigs while away from their computers. The feature proved to be a huge hit with many users searching for jobs on mobile that had never before used the functionality on the company’s website.

Would you personally apply for a job on your mobile phone?

Vidicom’s BrandSpeak Meets ExpertSpeak

Vidicom’s own Resident TV host for Vidicom, Raina Seitel, will give a peek into her life as a mom and girlfriend on the Style Network’s new show “City Girl Diaries”.  Raina is far more than only that! She is also the baroness of branded video content. She’s had Yopa! Greek Yogurt with Gabby Douglas and got a tour of a Glidden Paint room makeover at Melissa Joan Hart’s house.  All of this is captured through video that streams live on Facebook to interact with fans directly, and through satellite exchanges with broadcast and web journalists. Taped segments of Raina are distributed to bloggers, TV stations and taxis.

CEO Christy Ferer is very excited that her company is partnering with the Experts Collective!  The collective, founded by Thomas P. Farley, features a relationship expert, a mixologist, an organizer, and nine other specialists.  Raina is also excited and supportive of this partnership as she comments, “Christy Ferer thinks that experts lend credibility to a brand’s story. If an expert and a brand are the right fit, they push that message out because an expert’s following is loyal and will respond to products they endorse.”

We continue to send out editorial calendars to brands that can buy into an expert’s segments. As a result, dozens of brands sign up each week to put their messaging in the mouths of those who know best. Vidicom broadly distribute that content either on livestreaming, broadcast or online platforms.
