The Butler, Eric Fischl’s Bad Boy and a Secret Garden in East Hampton

Vidicom CEO Christy Ferer went to the The Butler screening last Friday. The film claims to be a real story, but the children of the real Cecil Gaines say the role Oprah played was untruthful because it showed their mother as an alcoholic and adulterer. They claim that none of it was true.

Great new summer book: Eric Fischl’s Bad Boy. Check out a video Vidicom produced on the author: http://bcove.me/help2tv5

EastHampton

There is a secret garden with a duck pond in East Hampton. There are two miles of secret wooded paths right in the middle of the village and a hidden statue of St. Francis where visitors leave offerings.

Here’s How Your News Feed Works

Vidicom CEO, Christy Ferer, read an article about Facebook. Facebook recently came up with news feed redesign! The news feed system has moved away from manual knob-turning during the feeds early days to the systematic algorithm that determines what you see today.

Facebook gives users a “customized newspaper” by highlighting the stories it assumes users will be most interested in. The new process scores each new story and places the highest scoring stories at the top of the feed.

There are 1,500 stories per day seen on average.  Facebook takes all the stories inputted and scores them based on how relevant the social network thinks it is for the user. In addition, stories are scored based on the relationship the user has with user who posted it, the number of comments, the number of shares, and the number of likes that the story has accumulated.

LinkedIn Lets You Apply for Jobs on Your Phone

Christy Ferer, Vidicom’s CEO, believes applying for jobs has become a lot easier thanks to LinkedIn’s new feature on it’s mobile app. The new feature allows you to apply to jobs from your mobile phone. How convenient!?

According to the associate product manager at LinkedIn, Vaibhav Goel, “Over 30% of members who view jobs on LinkedIn come from mobile.” LinkedIn recently launched the “Jobs you might be interested in” section on mobile as a way for job seekers to search potential gigs while away from their computers. The feature proved to be a huge hit with many users searching for jobs on mobile that had never before used the functionality on the company’s website.

Would you personally apply for a job on your mobile phone?
